Whether in ministries, municipal offices, schools or hospitals, EVVA solutions bring greater security and convenience to all public institutions. This is also true for the Burghauptmannschaft, the Austrian body responsible for historical buildings, in the government building which it manages on Vienna's Stubenring.
Stringent locking system requirements
Four ministries are currently housed in this Burghauptmannschaft building, including the Federal Ministry of Economy and Labour. Departments are merged or employees' responsibilities are changed on a frequent basis. Such circumstances call for a very flexible locking system. SALTO XS4 is particularly suitable for complex lock hierarchies and will also be used in other locations in the future. The system is compatible with standard identification technologies and covers all types of access, including exterior doors, storerooms, offices, restricted areas, lifts, cupboards, garages, vending machines and cloakroom lockers.
Issuing access authorisations
The main administrator at the Burghauptmannschaft agency is in charge of managing the whole locking system using the software application while civil service managers are responsible for individual ministries or departments, who, in turn, delegate responsibility to administrators. The latter issue identification media – key tags in this case– containing the required access authorisations to employees within a particular department.
Two online control units with reader antennas in the main entrance areas are used to update identification media. A total of around 1,000 key tags and ten Combi keys are used to open electronic and mechanical locking systems.
Brass e-cylinders
Many doors in the protected historical building feature beautiful, antique brass door knobs which have not been replaced. The majority of the 739 doors with e-cylinders have been fitted with a panic function, which ensures doors can always be opened from the inside using the door handle.
