Clean production: a new era begins without oil
Oil is expensive and detrimental to the environment. However, much of the world's energy needs depends on this resource. Innovative solutions are required to eliminate such dependence.
100 % recycling
EVVA Sicherheitstechnologie GmbH, one of the leading manufacturers of security technology in Europe, has developed a new manufacturing process which dispenses with oil and lubricants. All metal chippings produced when cylinder plugs are processed are fully recycled. The new process also offers better work conditions for employees. Sustainable procedures pay off: EVVA's Clean Production process does not require any oils, lubricants or water. The considerable environmental benefit is accompanied by cost savings of over 100,000 euros per year with regard to purchasing and waste disposal.
Jury's decision
EVVA received the City of Vienna's 2011 Environment Award for this environmentally friendly innovation. The award was presented by Ulli Sima, the councillor responsible for Environmental Affairs, at the "ÖkoBusinessPlan" gala at Vienna City Hall on March 16, 2011.
"The jury is very excited about the company's environmental concept. The long-standing ÖkoBusinessPlan company has managed to maintain its international leading position thanks to consistent innovations at its Vienna location. EVVA is also enhancing its environmental performance on a continuous basis, thus reducing operating costs," says the official jury statement. *
With a total of three awards, EVVA was the main award winner of the evening. Besides the 2011 Environment Award, the Austrian company also received the City of Vienna's annual "Ökoprofit award" for first-class environmental management.
EVVA has now won this award twelve times in a row, showing a commitment to the environment which has also been rewarded with the coveted, seldom-given "ÖkoBusiness Star" award.
Sustainability creates trust for the future.
EVVA's efforts over recent years have shown that ways of preserving resources and reducing impact on the environment can be found anywhere at any time and even go beyond existing, stringent official requirements.
