With the iButton Read Only Memory technology all authorisation information is saved in the fitting itself (e-cylinder, wall reader, i-Locker bolt lock) and not in the IDs (iButtons). The iButtons are not writeable, only readable. This means that the iButton has an unchangeable ID number which you need to identify yourself on the fitting - if this number is saved in the fitting, the fitting is released.
The ROM version is therefore particularly suitable for access authorisations with a defined user group. iButton ROM is an industry standard.
The IDs are based on non-reproducible, passive, touch-sensitive chip technology. The IDs are maintenance-free, i.e. they do not require batteries.
